lyrics
Buccaneers plague the north westering sands
The fight never ends for the cave dwelling clans
This day the midland coast the sea dogs dare
Stoats, weasels, ferrets, and rat corsairs
A badger lourde blows the horn to gather his host
As did all before him; their hares at their posts
At Salamandastron there stood Brocktree's kin
"Eulalia!" they all cried o'er the din
Chorus
The past, present, future, all carved in sacred walls
When a mountain lourde had passed another came from Brockhall
Heeding the call to stand guard at this tower
Defenders of Mossflower
The Long Patrol made of rag tag fighting hares
Slaying all roving beasts who looted for shares
Armoured by the forge which never ceased in its plume
From the distant horizon the pirates all spotted their doom
Crimson caking fur from Boar the Fighter’s bloodwrath
The vermin test his mettle as it shines in his grasp
The rage to kill no other combatant could bear
The reddened eyes beaming a murderous glare
No creatures can escape his paw as it sweeps
Open wounds steaming as the gulls swoop to reap
Returning to the keep only when he’d prevailed
The bodies washed by waves that they had once sailed
Chorus
A star was felled on their edge of the world
Leaving a smouldering rock of ore
Smoke bellowed out from the forge as it curled
For a blade tempered as none before
The broken shards mended for a sword reborn
Many paws would pass it down for others to grab it
To protect Redwall Abbey these creatures had sworn
Warriors dressed in a monk’s homely habit

If Elric had a soundtrack it would be this. It's everything you want from a epic metal album. Like a hot poker in the eye, but in a good way. Scott Malthouse

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka

IMHO, one of those albums that catches your attention immediately, but needs a few listens to really appreciate how great it is. Getting addicted guys, really! sachavonkarl74
